School counselling service

School counselling staff are members of the school learning and support team.

A teacher may recommend the service by referring a student to the school’s learning and support team. As a parent or carer, you may refer your child directly to the school counselling service. Students can also self-refer to the service.

The school counselling service can:

  • support students who are worrying about school work, friends, getting in trouble at school or feeling down
  • help parents and carers make decisions about your child’s education
  • assess a student’s learning and behaviour
  • help teachers and students identify and address disabilities that may affect learning
  • liaise with other agencies regarding student wellbeing.

School counselling is confidential.

For more information about learning and support teams and the school counselling service, please contact your school.

School Counselling Service staff support students by providing a psychological counselling, assessment and intervention service.

The School Counselling Service works directly with students to help them with issues related to learning, peer and family relationships, and managing emotions such as depression, anxiety, worry or isolation.

The School Counselling Service includes school counsellors and school psychologists. Our School Counselling Service staff are uniquely qualified members of school teams. They apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behaviour to help children and young people succeed academically, socially, behaviourally, and emotionally.

School counselling staff work with teachers, families, school executive, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community.

Students and parents can contact their school counsellor or school psychologist directly through the school.

At Bonnyrigg High School we currently have two school psychologists:

  • Amye Pagett - School Psychologist (Monday & Tuesday)
  • Raquel Malaxos - School Counsellor (Thursday & Friday)
